Christian Lucarelli struck out 11 Wildcat batters over 4 2/3 shutout innings as the Panthers shutout Shenango 11-0 to complete its mini series sweep.
Lucarelli allowed only two hits – both singles – and three walks in his victory on the rubber.
The win pushes the Panthers record to 7-0 on the season.
On Wednesday, Riverside used a seven run second inning to race ahead as Evan Burry, Ashton Schlosser, Hunter Garvin, Mitch Garvin, and Drake Fox, all drove in runs in the frame.
Riverside Baseball Varsity defeated Shenango 11-0 on Wednesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Hunter Garvin struck out Zach Herb to finish off the game.
Hunter Garvin threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Herb took the loss for Shenango. Herb surrendered seven runs on six hits over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two.
Sam Barber went 3-for-3 at the plate and scored two runs to lead the Riverside offense. Burry, and both Garvins swatted doubles for the Panthers. Hunter Garvin collected four RBIs on the afternoon.
Riverside will next hosted section foe Hopewell on Friday afternoon, with a first pitch scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
Wolverines Bounce Back, Defeat Neshannock 2-1
One day after falling on the road to the Lancers, Ellwood City bounced back on Wednesday to collect its first section win of the season.
Ellwood City used a sixth inning RBI single by Jordan Keller to plate Joseph Roth with the game-deciding run.
Will Nardone went the distance on the mound for the victory. Nardone only surrendered four hits and one earned run on the afternon while striking out six Lancers.
Offensively, Keller, Chase Wilson, and Roth each collected two hits in the victory. Roth swatted a double. Wilson collected a first inning RBI.
Ellwood City (2-7 Overall, 1-5 Section 1-3A) next will host Ambridge on Saturday at noon.
