Carlos Humberto Fonseca, 75, of New Brighton was called home suddenly, by the Heavenly Father, at Heritage Valley , Beaver, surrounded by his immediate family and nephew Luciano Coelho (San Francisco, CA), on March 19, 2023. Carlos was the son of the late Pedro and Olivia Fonseca and was born in Brazil.
He is survived by his loving wife, Debra, son Matthew, daughter Jennifer (Bredemeier) and two granddaughters, Baylee, and Emilie. He is also survived by six siblings: Leila Maria Coelho, Luiz Carlos (Beatrice), Julio Cesar, Maria Ignes (Joao) Miletta, Maria Clara (Biba) Pinese, Ricardo (Ana Lucia), 11 nephews, 7 nieces and several grand nieces and nephews, and many cousins , four sister-in-laws and brother-in-law‘s. In PA.
After graduation from high school, he attended the Seminary for a short time. He then attended Goias College and received his degree in Physical Education. He played tennis, won medals on a swim team and fencing . Carlos moved to San Francisco in 1971. He met Debra Fenchel in 1982 and they were married May 1, 1993, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in San Francisco, CA. He received his certificate as a Dental lab technician at City College, San Francisco. He worked as a tech for 5 years. Also worked at UCSF dental school with his wife. He also attended San Francisco State University and Berkeley university of California for his certificate in graphic arts and printing .He also worked for the Chronicle and Examiner newspaper of San Francisco in the graphics art department.
They then moved to Pennsylvania in 1998.
Carlos became a USAirways flight attendant and retired after 9/11 in Pittsburgh, PA. He then worked as a paraprofessional at BeaverCounty vocational technical school inCenter Township.
He owned and operated his own business as Fonzgrafix photography and photographed many events in the area. He volunteered for 5 years with his wife and son for the Heart Association fundraising events. He returned to flying with American Airlines and retired ,As a flight attendant, and ticket Agent to be at home with his family.
Carlos coached basketball at his sons School, Divine Mercy Academy, in Beaver Falls and soccer for the New Brighton Elementary Soccer Association. He has had a very busy and fulfilling life . He enjoyed time with his family and traveling , watching professional soccer and cheering on the Brazilian team. His passion was photography, and reading his Bible, In his leisure time, Carlos enjoyed talking and laughing . Sipping bourbon, Brazilian whiskey Cachaca or his favorite, a Manhattan, while smoking a cigar. He loved listening to music. His favorites were The Beatles and The Rolling Stones and more recently, American and Brazilian, jazz . He was such a loving and caring man… he will be greatly missed by everyone He has come in contact with . Each time he would hug one of his children or grandchildren tight he would say, “I recharged my batteries”.
Carlos was a man of strong faith and a devout Catholic. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Valley in New Brighton.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer DaFonseca, who passed at a young age in San Francisco, California in 1984.
His family has chosen to have no public services at this time.
Cremation arrangements are under the care of TURNER FUNERAL & CREMATION Services located on 6th and Park, in Ellwood City.
