Ellen B. Rugh, 91, of Ellwood City died Sunday, March 5, 2023 at UPMC- Passavant McCandles Hospital, in Pittsburgh. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine Moran and was born February 22, 1932, in Frisco, PA.
She was survived by her daughter; Ellen Lutz and her husband Jeff of Ellwood City, one sister; Catherine Hamilton of Mt. Pleasant, Pa and many nieces and nephews.
She was born and raised in Frisco and was know by “Honey” because of her beauty and red hair. She attended Lincoln High School. She met the love of her life, Jim Rugh, in 1953 and they were married September 8, 1954 and were married 48 years, at the time of Jim’s death, in 2003. Ellen and Jim loved collecting antiques and going antiquing. Ellen owned and operated Spring House Antiques in Harmony over ten years. Ellen and Jim were long time members of Union Goodwill Church in Franklin Twp. Ellen loved animals especially puppies. Ellen was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend to all who knew her.
Ellen was preceded in death by her siblings and spouses; Mr. William Moran and his wife Nellie, Mrs. Charles Frye (Emma), Mr. Thomas Moran, Mr. Patrick Moran and his wife Ehtel and one brother-in-law; Wilford Hamilton.
Friends may call on the family on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 from 3pm to 7pm at Turner Funeral & Cremation Services.
There will be one additional hour of visitation, on Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 12pm-1pm with a Funeral Service following at Turner’s, with Reverend Paul Moore, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Ellen’s name to either the Lawrence County or Beaver County Humane Society.
Private Interment will be in Lillyville Church of God Cemetery.
