Robert R. Stevenson, 76, of Ellwood City passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at his home. He was the son of the late William R. and Katherine Porter Stevenson and was born September 29, 1946, in Ellwood City.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years; Donna McCullough Stevenson, his children; William R. Stevenson, II of Maryland, and Rhonda K. Stevenson of Melbourne, Fl, Amanda Long and her husband Thomas of Shenango Twp, grandchildren; Robert R. Stevenson II and his wife Ashley, Thomas J. Stevenson, Madison N. Long, Callan T. Long, great-grandchild; Jack R. Stevenson, his siblings; Derrick Stevenson and his wife Bonnie of Beaver Falls, Deborah Goehring and her husband Barry of Ellport and Timothy Stevenson and his wife Susan of Ellwood City.
Bob was a 1964 graduate of Lincoln High School, and he received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He was a US Navy Veteran and he served from 1964-1966 and received an honorable discharge. He began his career in law enforcement as a Police Officer with the Ellwood City Police Department from 1969-1978 and was later Chief of Police with the Franklin Township Police Department, for 18 years, retiring in 2002.
He was a life member of BPOE ELKS in Ellwood City. Bob was a Pennsylvania Past President of the BPOE ELKS and he served on the Grand Lodge Committee of the BPOE ELKS. He was a longtime and active member of the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association. He will be most remembered as being the “Voice of the Blue Band” announcer for many years. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him.
Friends may call on the family on Friday, March 3, 2023, from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm with the BPOE ELKS conducting a Lodge of Sorrow at 7:30PM, at Turner Funeral & Cremation Services located at 500 6th Street Ellwood City.
Friends may also call on the family on Saturday, March 4, 2023, from 10am-12pm, with the Veteran’s Honor Guard rendering honors at 12:00PM at Turner’s. A Funeral Service will be conducted by Reverend Tod Custer
Private interment will be in Camp Run Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, Bob’s family is requesting donations be made, in Bob’s name, to The Christ Presbyterian Church in Ellwood City or your charity of choice.
