POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

THEFT ALL OTHER:
On December 5th, at approximately 11:51 a.m., PA State Police responded to a reported theft of a real estate sign. This occured near the intersection of 16th Street and W. Lawrence Ave., Wayne Township. This theft occurred approximately between 10/31 and 11/14 according to the report. The real estate sign is an Advantage Homes Real Estate sign that is predominately blue in color with white lettering. The sign is valued at $350.00. The investigation is ongoing. USE/POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA:
On October 14th at approximately 8:58 a.m., PA State Police initiated a traffic stop on Beaver Avenue in Ellwood City for an expired license and registration tag on a Acura RL. According to the criminal complaint, when police made contact with the driver, Ryan Starr, 41, of Ellwood City, he could not produce the documents related to the vehicle registration and proof of insurance and police later asked for consent to search the vehicle which was granted. During the search, police found blue packaging marked with THC Oil and a white vape pen containing a small vile of suspected TCH Oil. Starr is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without valid inspection, expired registration.

DRIVING WITH SUSPENDED LICENSE:
Douglas Conner, 60, of Ellwood City, is charged with driving with a suspended license and as a habitual offender after a traffic stop on November 27. According to the criminal complaint, and at approximately 2:00 p.m., police monitoring traffic on Portersville Road recognized Conner operating a maroon Chevy Lumina with a known operating privilege to be under suspension for DUI relates incidents. Police conducted a traffic stop near Breaker’s Pub and found Conner to be under the influence of alcohol and Conner admitted to have been drinking earlier. Connor was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI while operating privileges revoked and was transported to ECPD.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT:
Daniel Norton, 36, of Ellwood City, is charged with Aggravated Assault, Resisting Arrest, and Simple Assault, after an incident on December 6th. According to the criminal complaint, and at approximately 11:30 p.m., ECPD Officers were dispatched to Wampum Avenue for reports of a male on scene casuing problems. The prior shift was on scene for the disturbance and mental helath evaluation but the male walked away from the scene, but per the reporting the man, Norton, came back and forced his way into the residence. Police found Norton to have a bench warrant for his arrest and an active PFA from the reporting party. According to the criminal complaint, police arrived to find Norton resisting arrest and claiming to have a medical episode. Police called for the Fire Department to come check on Norton and upon arrival Norton kicked the responding EMS female. Norton had an active PFA against him from his mother who’s residence he forced entry into. Norton was there visiting his father earlier but was asked to leave and then came back under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

DUI:
William Yanssens, 29, of Ellwood City is charged with DUI and Careless Driving after a traffic stop on November 12th. According to the criminal complaint, at approximately 9:01 p.m., police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Border Avenue, Ellwood City. Police found a truck on its side and located the operator, Yanssens, who was not injured and refused medical treatment. When interviewing Yanssens, police detected the odor of alcohol and Yanssess told officers he just left a club where he had ten beers. Yanssens was asked to complete a field sobriety test for which he failed and was taken into custody.
