Housing, Arts, Schools Among Newest Firefly Solar Grant Recipients

The Firefly Solar project is excited to announce its latest community grant recipients. Award winners are nonprofits and educational institutions dedicated to community building in Lawrence County. This quarter the project provided funds to six local organizations: the Human Services Center, Cathedral Foundation, the Mohawk Area School District, the New Castle Public Library, the New Castle Regional Ballet, and the SNPJ Recreation Center.

“The Human Services Center is excited to be starting a Bridge Housing Project in Lawrence County,” said Tamara Gibson, Director of Community Services at the Human Services Center. “And we’re very thankful for the funding received through the Firefly Solar Community Grant!”

“New Castle Regional Ballet is very thankful to receive a Firefly Solar Community Grant to help further our mission of enriching the lives of the young people of Lawrence County through the beautiful art form of ballet,” said Elissa Cowher, Assistant Artistic Director at New Castle Regional Ballet. “This grant will directly support our educationa01l performance of The Nutcracker which we present to area school-aged children each year.”

In response to the heartfelt thanks from the community, Mike Reed, Senior Development Manager at Vesper Energy offered, “At Vesper Energy, we actively look for positive ways to contribute to the long-term health of the local community. Partnering with organizations through our grant program is a fantastic opportunity for Vesper Energy to support the people who make Lawrence County a rich and vibrant community.”
About Firefly Solar and Community Grants

When built, the Firefly Solar Project will provide clean energy to approximately 25,000 homes in Lawrence County and create approximately 200 jobs during construction. In addition, the project will provide a new stream of long-term income to local governments benefiting county tax payers, taxing bodies, students, and community members.
