Ellwood City Area School District Provides Construction Update

In advance of the back to school season, the Ellwood City Area School District has provided an update to various construction projects on school grounds.

According to the district website, the update is to provide the community with current information regarding the capital improvement projects that are underway throughout Ellwood City Area School District.  The focus of the projects is to create a safer learning environment for our students and staff.

Helling Stadium

All field drainage work is complete and the field base has been set.  All of the buildings on the site have been repainted.  Fencing, concrete and asphalt work is being completed

at this time.  The turf is scheduled to arrive by August 9^th and will take several weeks to install.  Next, the new track surface will be installed and painted.  The stadium is on schedule.  There are a lot of fine details in the remaining work.  Thank you for your continued patience as we upgrade Helling Stadium.   When complete, the brand-new track will be available for community use.  We look forward to opening this facility to the community and our district groups.

North Side Primary School

All work to install new chiller (air-conditioning), electrical transformer, boilers and a domestic water heater has been completed.  North Side Primary School will be ready for opening day!

Hartman Intermediate School

All interior work to prepare for a new air-conditioning system is complete.  New lighting and ductwork has been installed in the building offices and the nurses suite.  Unfortunately, the chiller unit delivery has been delayed.  The new promised date of delivery is by August 13^th.  The contractor needs about eight working days to finalize the installation.  If the unit is delivered by this new date, all cooling will be in place for the start of school.

Perry Lower Intermediate School

The design was presented to the board at the public meeting on July 7^th and will include an addition and comprehensive renovation to the existing building.  All preliminary drawings, environmental studies and permits are in process and project bidding will take place during the month of August.  The board hopes to award bids in September so that work can begin in October.  The expected conclusion of construction is set for December of 2023.  New electric, heating and cooling, plumbing, ceilings, flooring and windows will be installed and the brick façade will be repaired.

Lincoln Jr. Sr. High School

This will be our last project to upgrade and improve electrical, plumbing, heating and cooling systems.  New lights and renovated hallways are also part of this project.  Planning for this work has not yet begun.
