Festival Entertainment: Part 2: Elmoz Fire to play Dance Favorites

A little bit Whitney a little bit Bruno Mars mixed with some Play that Funky Music and Brick House. It’s a recipe of Funk, R&B, and Dance music. It’s Elmoz Fire.

The Pittsburgh-based band will play the Ellwood City Arts, Crafts, Food, and Entertainment Festival on Sunday, July 3rd from 8:15 to 9:45.

The bands guitarist Dennis Trivilino lives in Ellwood, and he said the band is looking forward to playing the festival

“We will get to play for all ages,” Trivilino said. “The dance music effects everyone whether 16 or 60. Everyone will dance to Brick House.”

He said Elmoz Fire has evolved over the years, and actually began as a doo wop band named the Elmonics, and when they moved toward dance music Elmoz Fire seemed more appropriate.

According to Trivilino, the band started as it is about 7 years ago. In 2020 three band members died and that is when they added lead singers Josie Crooks and Ray DeLisio.

Trivilino said both muscians are extremely talented and bring so much to the band. He said Crooks caught the attention of the band Chicago, and when they play in the area they ask her to sing with them.

“She is probably the best female singer in Pittsburgh,” he said.

Crooks and DeLisio are backed by a powerful rhythm section combination of  Sammy Argiro on drums with keyboardist Gary Honnifer adding the dynamic bass lines. As the grooves are laid down, Honnifer takes the sounds to another level on keyboard and let’s not forget Trivilino on guitar.

Trivilino said the band lives to play.

“Some of the band members are in their 70s,” he said. “We’re still playing like we are 21. Most of us will do it until we can’t do it anymore.”
