Are you ready? …
For something new? Something untraditional? Something unique?
The power quartet Cherry Radium will channel the vibes of Fleetwood Mac and other rock favorites on Saturday, July 2nd at the Ellwood City Arts, Crafts, Food, and Entertainment Festival.
The band will take the stage from 8:30 to 10 p.m. with New Castle-based musicians Gianna Cherry on lead vocals, Darrin Salzano on vocals and acoustic guitar, Zayne Strobel on bass guitar, and Greg Argiro on drums.
Strobel said the band started in 2021.
“We started as a three piece and have morphed into a quartet,” he said. “We added drums to our sound at the end of September. Greg has brought a tremendous amount of energy to the band.”
Here’s an interesting tidbit about Argiro, his father plays in the band Elmoz Fire, which will be performing Sunday night at the festival.
Cherry Radium came about when Strobel was watching a Netflix movie called “Radium Girls.” That movie was about radium. So he simply added the name of the lead vocalist and voila Cherry Radium was born.
The bank looks forward to playing the festival because it’s an opportunity to get to play to an audience they might not get to typically.
“Community shows are special to us because it’s an inclusive event that allows people of all ages and backgrounds to come together to enjoy art, music and community,” Strobel said. “You can truly see how music brings people together when looking out into the crowd. Myself and the rest of the band are so thankful to see the dedication and passion that our small community has in support of the arts. Especially during these uncertain times, the power of community is more strong than ever.”
If you are curious as to what you can expect to hear from Cherry Radium, you might be pleasantly surprised to know that they are different … different in a good way.
“We do not have a lead guitar,” Strobel said. “Our bass player actually covers all of the melody and solo parts. Which compliments our lead singer’s vocals tastefully.”
According to Strobel, it’s a unique sound and experience.
“Try to imagine hearing someone play the solo to ‘The Chain’ on bass guitar,” he said. “On paper it doesn’t make sense and should not work but it somehow does and in a beautiful way.”
And Cherry on lead vocals really packs power.
“Our lead vocalist brings a powerful performance with vocals to the likes of Stevie Nicks,” Strobel said.
And powerful energy is brought by the entire band.
“Everyone in the band has a good time, in turn so does the audience,” Strobel said. “The energy is electric and the band just dives right in.”
