Mark Raymond Brown, 59, of Ellwood City, passed away on May 2nd, 2022, while under the care of UPMC Presbyterian Hospital after a motorcycle accident on April 30th, 2022
Born May 16, 1962, in Ellwood City, he was the son of the late James Norton Sr. and Marlene Bartle Norton.
Mark was the beloved husband of 30 years to his wife, Maryjo Brickley Brown, whom he married on August 24, 1991; the loving father of Zach and Chelsea (Chris) Brown; and the brother of Barb (Tom) Seebacher, Lisa (Drew) Boots, Crissy (Bob) Nadzam, and James Norton, Jr.
Dad proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1982 -1985, serving in Germany for a portion of that time. Dad was an active member of the Zelienople American Legion Post 474 and the American Legion Riders, where he held the position of Road Captain. He also held the position of State Sergeant of Arms for Pennsylvania and was an active member of the Patriot Guard Riders.
Dad was a respected and genuinely caring man. He had an incredible sense of humor that made everyone around him smile. He was an inspiration to many and would selflessly help others in need. He was a leader and had a presence that people gravitated to. He was a pillar of strength, a moral compass and a hero to our family. Dad lived his life to the fullest. There was nothing he enjoyed more than spending time with his family, helping others and riding his motorcycle with our mom and his fellow brothers and sisters of the American Legion Riders. Together they logged thousands of miles across this country. Dad would always tell us: “If I die on my bike, just know that I died doing something that I loved to do.”
Dad continues to be a blessing to others. His liver has already been gifted to a recipient in South Carolina. His right kidney will be gifted to a recipient in Maryland. Also, his left kidney will be gifted once they find a perfect match. While we grieve, we find some closure, as we know dad would be honored to provide these recipients a restored quality of life. Even after death, dad is a true, selfless hero.
He is preceded in death by his sister Diane (Dave) Mackrell and nephew Jacob Daubenspeck.
Friends will be received on Saturday, May 7, 2022, from 3 P.M. until the time of the Celebration of Life Service, with full military honors, at 6 P.M. at Boylan Funeral Home, Inc., 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, PA 16063 with Pastor Reid Moon as Celebrant.
Memorial donations may be made in Mark’s honor to the American Legion Riders, Post 474, 308 W. New Castle St, Zelienople, PA 16063.
