Susan Eileen Hardy Scherer, 60

Susan Eileen Hardy Scherer, 60, of North Beaver Township passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital following a courageous battle with brain cancer, surrounded by her loving family.

Born October 14, 1961 in New Brighton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Edward and Karen Elizabeth (Burgess) Hardy. Susan married Noe’ Karl Scherer in 1983 and they lived a life of non-stop adventure.

Survivors include her husband Noe’; four children: Jessica Eileen Johnson, Noe’ Jacob Scherer, Molly Karen (Michael) Frasso and Rachel Suzanna (Kevin) Reeves; three siblings: Joseph Kirk (Karen) Hardy, Brian Thomas Hardy and Janet Lynne Hardy-Miklos; an extensive family network; a merry tribe of supportive friends, and one ornery, yet loving chocolate lab, Charlie Brown.

Susan lived a compassionate life of service and active learning. She went “all in” on anything that she and/or her children elected to be involved in: scout leader, softball coach, honorary score keeper and/or photographer of countless sporting and musical events, sport and band banquet queen, arts and craft extraordinaire, and recreational photographer. A florist-by-trade, Susan was a proud Penn State Master Gardener and more recently a bee keeper. An avid believer of community service, she was very involved with the Wampum Women’s Club and in the planning of the annual Wampum Area Christmas Parade. Susan is often referred to as the glue that kept our family together; hosting family reunions, traveling across the country and even abroad to visit and participate in milestone events, day tripping to visit cousins and help with kiddos, etc. The memories of Susan that many hold dear will be cherished for generations to come.

Visitation will be held on Saturday January 29, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 341 Main Street Wampum.

Private Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Wampum Area Christmas Parade, Family House or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Online condolences may be sent to marshallsfh.com

Our hearts are heavy without Sue in our physical lives. I will miss our special ‘yard visits and projects…’ Put your worries and fears in God’s loving hands—He is the source of strength, comfort, understanding, and healing. It’s now her time to brightly shine in our heavenly home; but her spirit-self will be forever connected and ‘with you’ in this life. Watch for ‘the signs’ she will send to show her presence and love.
