Ellwood City Area Historical Society To Hold First Meeting Of 2022

The Ellwood City Area Historical Society is pleased to announce they will hold their first meeting of 2022 Monday, January 10 at 7:00 pm. Officers and board directors that were elected in November 2021, will be installed.

The guest speaker for the evening will be Andrew Henley who will speak about “The Foundations of Lawrence County”. Andrew W. Henley is from Edinburg, Mahoning Township, Lawrence County. Henley resides on an eligible Bicentennial Farm, in which his family has resided since 1808. Through these engraved ties to the county, Henley has dedicated his life to public service through his work with various non-profit organizations in the county.

His work with the Lawrence County Historical Society began in 2008 when he began volunteering alongside notable mentors. His community work included the coordination of the annual Civil War series, an educational program for the fifth and sixth graders. Henley is dedicated to educating our county’s youth about events that have shaped America.

As a graduate of Westminster College, he earned his bachelor’s degree in History. At the University of Pittsburgh, he then earned a Master’s of Library and Information Science, a terminal degree for his field. As the founder and president of a Lawrence County-based company, Pleasant Hill Historians, a research consulting firm specializing in property and family histories, Andrew’s first hand experience and insight from the communities will serve as a benefit to his presentation, “The Foundations of Lawrence County”.

The meeting is open to the public, and ask you bring a friend. Door prizes will be awarded, and refreshments will be served.
