Freda Morrow Newton, 92, of Ellwood City entered her heavenly rest and joined the Lord in song on Friday, November 5, 2021 at UPMC Mercy Hospital after a brief illness.
Born October 27, 1929 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Violet Harper Morrow. She was married to Frank L. Newton who passed on March 15, 2010
Freda was employed by the Ellwood City Knitting Mill and then the Ledger before she became an LPN. She was a former member of the Knox Church and currently attended Christ Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and a 50 year member of the Eastern Star. Freda truly enjoyed cooking especially baking bread. She loved playing the keyboard and singing. She also attended Circle of Friends and enjoyed cards, bingo, and line dancing. Playing the card game 31 with her son in law Gene, was one of her favorite activities.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan (Gene) Donley of Perry Twp, Laurie (Kenneth) Gauntner of Madison, OH; son, Lawrence (Joy) Newton of Phoenix, AZ; 5 grandchildren, Jerimy and David Donley, Lindsey (Scott) Ugrin, Kelly Mulholland, and Kasey Messina; 4 great grandchildren, Wyatt Ugrin, Haley, Alyssa and Jacob Donley and one more on the way, Ryett Lawrence Messina; sister, Elsie Holman of Beaver; and a brother, Ronnie Morrow of New Jersey.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jody, Paul, and Clarence and two sisters, Mary and Jean.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday November 13, 2021 from 3:00 pm until the time of the Funeral Service at 6:00 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Rev. Elizabeth Wallace will officiate. An Eastern Star service will also be held.
