Ruth Ellen (Varner) Kauffman, 84, died peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on October 14th, 2021. Ruth was born in Valencia Pennsylvania, Butler County on December 11th, 1936 to the late Adam LeVaughn Varner and Willa Mae Daufen of Fombell PA.
Raised on a farm in Fombell, PA she graduated Lincoln High School in Ellwood City.
She married Marlan Dale Hart, lived in North Sewickley Township and had two sons, Warren Dale Hart and Merle Duane Hart. Dale died in 1961. Ruth remarried in 1964 to Cecil Paul McDanel and had a daughter, Charlene (McDanel) Sundgaard. Cecil died in 1986. Ruth remarried in 2000 to Harry Thomas Kauffman, Harry died in 2017.
Ruth was an Honor Graduate of the Pittsburgh Beauty Academy of Beaver Falls, winning the Top Student award then owned and operated a Beauty Shop for 43 years. She was active in the Eastern Star and was an avid fan of the Pirates, Steelers, and Penguins.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, and an older sister Doris (Varner) Miller, and her youngest sister Jean (Varner) Palmer.
Surviving family members: sister Faye (Varner) and Marlan Hart, brother Hal LeVaughn Varner.
Children: son Warren and Sue Hart, son Merle Duane and Julieann Hart, daughter Charlene (McDanel) and Mike Sundgaard, daughter in law Lita Hart.
Grandchildren: grandson Brian Dale Hart, granddaughter Kristen Sue Hart, grandson Evan and Melissa Hart, granddaughter Leah Alta Friscia, grandson Ethan Duane Douglas, grandson Andrew William Sundgaard, granddaughter Alyssa Michele Sundgaard, grandson Nathan Reagan Hart, granddaughter Audrey Bonnell Hart.
Great grandchildren: great granddaughter Rylee Jean Hart, great grandson Owen Duane Hart, great grandson Issac Alexander Friscia.
Ruth will be missed by many throughout the region and is now safely with the Lord.
Viewing will be at the Turner Funeral Home on Sunday, October 17, 2021 from 1:30pm – 3:30pm with Funeral Services to follow at 3:30pm, at Turners.
Burial will be in St. Marks Lutheran Cemetery in Lillyville, PA.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to the Elwood City Library.
Arrangements entrusted to the TURNER FUNERAL HOME located at 500 6th in Ellwood City.
