Burton Lee “Tim” Baker, 78

Burton Lee “Tim” Baker, 78, of Bessemer (formerly of North Beaver Township) passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Uniontown Hospital in Fayette County following complications from Covid-19.

Born July 27, 1942 in New Brighton, he was the son of the late Samuel Burton Baker and Louise McMillan Baker Thompson. He married the love of his life Nancy D. Elliott Baker on July 18, 1975.

Tim was a proud veteran of the Air Force, serving in Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion in New Castle and the Lighthouse Baptist Church of Bessemer. He was employed at Hardy Trucking for 40 years where he was affectionately known as “Little Stinker” on the CB radio until his retirement in 2004. He was an avid Steeler and Pirate fan. On warm days, you could find him at the ball field catching a game. He enjoyed singing with the Ellwood City Civic Chorale. Tim’s most cherished moments were spent with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandson.

In addition to his wife Nancy, survivors include his children, some by blood and some by love, two sons, Burt (Barb White) Baker of New Castle, and Ed Alford of Pittsburgh; two daughters, Vickie (John) Domenick and Catherine (Shawn) Cox both of Bessemer. Many grandchildren and one great grandson who lovingly called him “Pap Pap”; and many step brothers and step sisters.

He was preceded in death by his grandson Joshua Baker.
