Tradition, community support, and a love of his hometown were all on Joe Fotia’s list of reasons to open Fotia Physical Therapy in Ellwood City.
“I wanted to follow in my father’s footsteps of owning a business in Ellwood City,” he said. “Also, no matter where I have worked, I’ve always had support from the people of Ellwood City.”
Fotia grew up in Ellwood City and graduated from Lincoln High School (class of ‘87). After graduating with a degree in Biology from Clarion University of PA, he received a Master’s degree in physical therapy from Duquesne University. After earning his degrees and license, he spent the last 28 years as a physical therapist working in various facilities. Fotia decided it was time to open his own practice and always knew that would be the path he would take.
“When I started my career, I set out to learn all areas of physical therapy,” Fotia said. “I worked in hospitals, home health and in various office settings including rheumatology, orthopedic, wellness, workers compensation, and neurological such as headaches, balance and vestibular offices. All the while I always knew that I would be opening a clinic in Ellwood City.”
His plan became a reality in August of 2020 when he opened the doors at his 199 Portersville Road facility. And he is happy with the atmosphere he has created.
“The office was designed to be warm and welcoming to take the intimidation out of physical therapy,” he said.
He cannot be more excited to help people and provide services to those who need them the most.
Fotia Physical Therapy is a one stop shop for all physical therapy services including total joint replacements, peripheral neuropathy, headaches, back pain, neck pain, rotator cuff injuries, knee injuries all sports related injuries, injury prevention and many others.

“All patients work one-on-one with me directly every visit,” he said. “My business is structured around hands on therapy specific to each person’s needs.”
All physical services are provided, and all insurances are accepted.
