According to the Borough of Ellwood City Code Officer, Ralph Chiappetta, there has been a large problem with junk, abandoned or unregistered vehicles in the borough.
Chiappetta would like to remind residents that you may have a vehicle that is not inspected, registered, or legally drivable on the street stored in a garage as defined in the following ordinances. A tarp or canvas enclosure is NOT a garage. You may not have a vehicle stored in your yard.
This is covered under IPMC 2012 section 202, INOPERABLE MOTOR VEHICLE A vehicle which cannot be driven upon the public streets for reason including but not limited to being unlicensed, wrecked, abandoned, in a
state of disrepair, or incapable of being moved under its own power.
Also in IPMC2012 section 302.8 Except as provided for in other regulations, no inoperative or unlicensed motor vehicle shall be parked, kept or stored on any premises, and no vehicle shall at any time be in a state of major disassembly, disrepair, or in the process of being stripped or dismantled. Painting of vehicles is prohibited unless conducted inside an approved spray booth.
If anyone has questions please contact Ralph Chiappetta, Ellwood City Code Officer at 724-824-7636.
