The spirit of Wolves Club Den II founders was honored at a Holy Redeemer Parish Sunday Mass followed by breakfast at Carusone’s in Ellwood City, PA. The tribute took place on November 1, 2020.
At the breakfast, President Mike DeOtto welcomed all those in attendance and recognized both the widows and board members present. A moment of silence was held for Tony Petracolla, – deceased former member.
In his comments, Mr. DeOtto welcomed the opportunity to pay tribute to those Wolves Club members that have gone before us. He especially emphasized the legacy that they left behind is as strong as ever today, despite the current pandemic and that the Wolves Club initiatives will continue to thrive. And he also thanked the current membership for their hard work over the years.
John Biondi, club historian, remarks focused on ‘remembering our roots’. He emphasized that our roots are deep and are still strong primarily due to the solid foundation set in place by our 18 charter members who were dedicated to and practiced the Wolves Club motto: “Pro Bono Publico” – “For the Good of the Public”.
Mr. Biondi further remarked that it was truly amazing how the charter members blended their talents together to humbly serve others since they all came from vastly different professional backgrounds; such as a priest, an attorney, a realtor, a mortician, an accountant, a florist, an insurance agent, and an assortment of retail and wholesale businesses. They all had one thing in common, humility. By being humble, they put the needs of others before themselves. They instilled that same service philosophy in the countless Wolves initiatives implemented over the years, especially the scholarship program, Festival in the park, Oktober Fest and the community projects too numerous to mention here.
Mr. Biondi concluded his remarks by pointing out – that the Wolves Club Den II just completed its 72nd year, and that we are proud of our past and confident of our future.
President Mike DeOtto thanked all for attending and offered a special thank you to Cosmo Morabito, Memorial Mass and Breakfast chairman who also put together the breakfast program.
