The following are police criminal complaints filed at the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Lawrence County office of Honorable Jerry G. Cartwright.
Fight On Loop Street:
On Sepember 8 at approximately 8:42 p.m. officers were dispatched to a reported fight at Loop Street involving a knife. Upon arrival officers made contact with all parties involved and spoke with a white male with a bleeding laceration above his eye who appeared intoxicated. After police asked for the man’s information, he lied several times about his identity before he finally gave his correct name. 22-year-old Hunter Dittmer, of Butler, was arrested and charged with Public Drunkenness and False Identification to Law Enforcement. Dittmer has two felony warrants out of Butler, PA and was transported to ECPD where Butler Sheriffs picked him up.
Simple Assault:
On Saturday, September 12, Evan Gibbons, 26, of Ellwood City, was charged with Harrassment and Simple Assault after a domestic incident on West Lawrence Avenue. According to the report, at approximately 11:57 p.m. police responded and met the victim whom related she had engaged in a verbal argument with her fiance that escalated physically. The victim called 911 and Gibbons fled the residence and was unable to be located.
Two Charged With Bad Checks & Conspiracy
Billie Reef, 48, of Ellwood City, is charged with Criminal Conspiracy and Bad Checks after police investigated activity in a closed account at First National Bank in August. Reef provided two checks in the amount of $750.00 made payable to Billie Jo Reef and signed by Mark Cearfoss to the victim who deposited the checks into her account and withdrew cash to give to Reef. The victim related that Reef advised her she did not have an account and needed help cashing the checks. The account for Cearfoss was closed and the victim was forced to pay restitution fees. Police suspect Reef did conspire with Cearfoss to commit a crime. Cearfoss, 65, of Koppel, is charged with Criminal Conspiracy and Bad Checks.
Driving Under the Influence:
Aleah Klingensmith, 22, of New Castle, is charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Controlled Substance after police stopped her vehicle on September 12 in New Castle. After the police initiated the stop and made contact with Klingensmith and the passenger where a strong odor of marijuana and alcohol came from the occupants inside the vehicle. Klingensmith failed her portable breath test and field sobriety test and was transported to UPMC Jameson.
Driving Under the Influence:
Leslie Powell, 57, of Darlington, is charged with DUI after police found Powell parked and asleep at the wheel in New Beaver Borough on Sunday, September 13. When police located and awoke Powell, he related he was coming from Louisiana and going to Louisiana and believed he was in Louisiana. Powell had slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath. Powell also related he had a firearm in his center console. Police located a semi-automatic pistol with a magazine with seven bullets, but Powell was unable to provide a carry license. Powell failed his field sobriety test and was subsequently placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and concealing a Firearm without a Concealed Carry License.
