ECASD Issues Info On Chromebook, Open House & Orientation

In a letter circulated this week, the Ellwood City Area School District announced Chromebook distribution, Meet The Teacher Open House, and 7th Grade Orientation information in a letter to parents circulated this week.

According to the letter, and with the current restrictions in place, the district is limiting the number of individuals in the building for the open house which also serves as time for parents and/or students to pick-up their Chromebook and first day packet of information.

Included in the packet of information will be a summary of operational logistics for the high school under the ECASD return to school plan of action. The district will use afternoons during a three day period for parents and/or students in grades 8-12 to pick up their Chromebook and packet of information as well as visit their classrom teachers if they choose to do so. The fourth afternoon will be for incoming 7th grade students and new students to the district.

The district asks all parents, guardians, and students to adhere to the following schedule and outline:

TUESDAY, AUGUST 25: Lincoln parents and/or students in grades 8-12 with their last name starting A-H can pick up their Chromebook in the Lincoln Sabo Auditorium between the hours of 1:00-3:30 p.m. If you want to take a quick tour of your classes to meet your 20-21 teachers, then the building will be available after you pick up your Chromebook. All parents and/or students will need to enter the building through the front entrance of the Sabo Auditorium labeled CC. Along with picking up the Chromebook, parents and students can pick up the traditional first day packet of information that needs to be reviewed, signed and returned at the beginning of each year.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 26: Lincoln parents and/or students in grades 8-12 with their last name starting I-R can pick up their Chromebook in the Lincoln Sabo Auditorium between the hours of 1:00-3:30 p.m. If you want to take a quick tour of your classes to meet your 20-21 teachers, then the building will be available after you pick up your Chromebook. All parents and/or students will need to enter the building through the front entrance of the Sabo Auditorium labeled CC. Along with picking up the Chromebook, parents and students can pick up the traditional first day packet of information that needs to be reviewed, signed and returned at the beginning of each year.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 27: Lincoln parents and/or students in grades 8-12 with their last name starting S-Z can pick up their Chromebook in the Lincoln Sabo Auditorium between the hours of 1:00-3:30 p.m. If you want to take a quick tour of your classes to meet your 20-21 teachers, then the building will be available after you pick up your Chromebook. All parents and/or students will need to enter the building through the front entrance of the Sabo Auditorium labeled CC. Along with picking up the Chromebook, parents and students can pick up the traditional first day packet of information that needs to be reviewed, signed and returned at the beginning of each year.

The district will permit parents and/or students to utilize a day and time that works better for them if the scheduled day based upon the student last name does not work, but we ask that all parties use the specified day and time if possible.

Any student that does not come to the school during these times will receive dtheir Chromebook and information on the first day of school in first period or need to come to the office during the week of August 31 to get their Chromebook and packet of information. Visiting the building during the week of August 31 will not be permitted.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 28: (7th Grade Orientation & New Students To The District) ECASD will offer 7th grade orientation and new students to the district orientation to parents and/or students in the Lincoln Sabo Auditorium between 12:30-2:30 p.m. The meeting will start in the Lincoln Sabo Auditorium at 12:30 p.m. where Mr. Lape (Lincoln Principal) and Mrs. Manns (Lincoln Councelor) will provide a brief overview of the 7th grade school year. Seventh grade teachers will take the students from the auditorium around 1:00 p.m. to go through their scheduled classes for the first day of school. The students will spend five minutes in each classroom with their teach and move to all of their classrooms. The parents will remain in the auditorium to receive the students Chromebook as well as the first day packet of information that will need to be read, signed, and returned. The students will be led back to the auditorium to leave at 2:30 p.m.

The Meet the Teacher Open House & Chromebook Pick-Up dates will be new to all, but the district and Mr. Lape hope to attend to ensure a good start to the new school year. If you have any questions or concerns, all are asked to contact the school.
