NOTICE: Ellwood City School Board Vacancy

Effective June 9, 2020, a vacancy exists on the Board of School Directors of the Ellwood City Area School District.  The Board of School Directors intend to appoint the new director to fill the current vacancy at General Purpose Board Meeting to be conducted in July.

In accordance with School Laws of Pennsylvania, the remaining members of the Board intend to fill the vacancy at a public meeting within thirty (30) days. The individual appointed will serve until the first Monday of December 2021.

In addition to being a current resident of the District, Section 322 of the Public School Code of 1949 as amended limits the eligibility to: “Any citizen of this Commonwealth, having a good moral character, being eighteen (18) years of age or upwards, and having been a resident of the district for at least one (1) year, prior to the date of his/her election or appointment.” There are further limitations relating to those who hold other governmental offices or positions in the School District.

Eligible individuals interested in being considered for this vacant office should submit a resume and an application that can be found on the district website ellwood.k12.pa.us (under the employment tab) or may be picked up at the District Office. The resume and application must be received (via online, mailed or hand carried) by 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2020 addressed to the Ellwood City Area School District Board of School Directors, C/O Superintendent, 501 Crescent Avenue, Ellwood City, PA 16117. If the application and resume are returned via regular mail, it must be post marked by June 26, 2020. The application must be completed in its entirety.

Again, The Board of School Directors intends to appoint the new director to fill the current vacancy at General Purpose Board Meeting to be conducted Thursday, July 2, 2020 in the Board Room located in the Lincoln High School beginning at 7:00 p.m. after the interviews have been conducted. July Board Meeting Date/Time Announced

The Ellwood City Area School Board of Directors has scheduled a Board Meeting on Thursday, July 2,2020 starting at 7:00 PM. The meeting is scheduled for Board vacancy interviews, appointment of a new director to fill the vacancy, and any other general business purposes and whatever else may come before the Board. This meeting will take place in the Board Room in the Lincoln High School (unless otherwise posted.)
