ELLWOOD CITY – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) today announced that three school districts in the 10th District have been selected to receive a Continuity of Education and Equity Grant (CEEG) for the 2019-20 academic year.
“During the COVID-19 pandemic, it is imperative we don’t lose sight of how important it is for us to deliver the best possible education to every child,” said Bernstine. “This funding will help schools purchase equipment, so teachers can better connect with students ready to learn.”
Those receiving grants locally are:
• New Brighton Area School District – $76,000.
• New Castle Area School District – $132,850.
• Big Beaver Falls Area School District – $94,750.
CEEG grants are designed to help provide access and inclusion for all learners by bridging the gap for students who are currently limited in their ability to participate in the continuity of education.
This grant may be used to purchase computer equipment, such as laptops, tablets and internet hot spots. In addition, it can be used toward providing instructional materials, such as paper lessons and coursework. Schools with the highest percentages of students lacking access to resources were given priority in receiving a CEEG.
“I’m pleased we are able to bring home the funds to create an even better learning environment for our teachers and kids,” said Bernstine.
