Marie A. Wiley, 97, of Shenango Twp. passed away Thursday, April 2, 2020 at the Golden Hills Nursing Home in New Castle.
Born February 12, 1923 in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Richey) Stickle. She was married to Harold R. Wiley Sr. who died September 20, 2000.
Marie was a longtime member of the Center Presbyterian Church where she was involved with the Lois Morris Circle and the Homemaker’s Club. A former member of the Laurel Adult Travel Club, Marie enjoyed many trips with the group. She worked at Hillview Manor Nursing Home for 18 years in the dietary department. Marie enjoyed baking homemade pies and bread. She won the Blue Ribbon Award at the Lawrence County Fair for her homemade relish.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda (Chris) Newell of Ellwood City, Wanda (Bill) Zarella of Tennessee; a son, Harold (Maryann) Wiley Jr. of Ellwood City; sister, Ida Rogan of Kentucky; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Roger) Brenneman, Steven (Allison) Jackson, Melissa (James) Taylor, and Emma Zarella; four great grandchildren, Jolynn and Lea Brenneman, and Eulus and Olivia Taylor; and a special friend, Jean Wallace of Koppel.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Violet Shellenberger, Gladys Murincsak and Lucille Freed; and a brother, Ernest Stickle.
Our dear mother, sister, grandmother, and friend deserves a beautiful tribute. However, in this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, funeral services will be privately held on Monday, April 6. Pastor Randy Stringer will officiate the service. Please be with us in prayer. Interment will follow in Center Church Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at Quality Life Services and Three Rivers Hospice for the wonderful compassion and care shown to Marie . Also, a special thanks to Valeria Wimer, Doris DePinto, and to her neighbors, the Walczak family for always being there for Marie.
