Frederick R. Hartwell, 84, of New Castle passed away unexpectedly Thursday, February 6, 2020 at his residence.
Born September 29, 1935 in Greenfield, MA, he was the son of the late Harry D. and Elizabeth C. (Bridges) Hartwell.
Fred was formerly employed at Harvey Aluminum and Martin Metals and Alloys. He served in the Marines during the Korean War. Fred enjoyed being with friends and playing pool. He was generous in life and enjoyed taking care of family and friends.
Survivors include a son, Danny (Sendy) Hartwell and two grandchildren, Danny Jr. and Krista R. Hartwell, all of Malibu, California. He is also survived by a brother, Russell Hartwell of Massachusetts and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his former wife, Ruby Moore Hartwell and twelve brothers and sisters.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday February 14, 2020 from 6-8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, Wampum. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 1 pm with Rev. Elizabeth Wallace officiating. Military rites will be offered by the Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will follow in Clinton Cemetery.
