PHOTOS: “Walk To Honor” In Ellwood City

The annual Ellwood City Memorial Day parade was held on Monday, May 27.

The parade began on the Veterans Bridge on Fifth Street at 10:00 a.m and proceeded to Crescent Avenue, over to Eighth Street, down to Lawrence Avenue, back to Fifth and then onto Spring Avenue into Legion Park, where the 45-minute memorial event was held.

The parade traveled to several veterans, local leaders spoke, the borough’s civic choral performed, and there was a flag-raising ceremony. Once the ceremony concluded, community members were invited to a community picnic at the playground at Pittsburgh Circle.

Veterans were welcomed to walk or ride in the parade in honor of the men and women who gave their lives in military service. Families had the option to “Walk to Honor” a loved one. Those who submitted a photo to The Color Center carried the enlarged yard sign along the parade route.

The “Walk to Honor” is sponsored by Al’s Corner.
