Ellwood City Library’s 2019 Summer Programs

Ellwood City Library has a stellar variety of Summer Programs for 2019! Book Bunch starts in June for kids having completed third grade. Each child receives a free book each month that he or she attends, is treated to pizza for lunch, and fun activities based on the book. Parents need to sign up third graders to attend Book Bunch now. The first books have arrived at the library for pick up. Fourth and Fifth graders can attend Bookworms and receive all the same benefits. It’s a great way to improve reading skills this summer!

The Puppet Theater Workshop begins early this year on Thursday, June 6 from 10 -11:30 AM. It’s open to students who have completed fourth grade and up. The Library has a huge selection of puppets! Kids choose a puppet to use and then break into groups, each with a student director, to decide on a plot for their play. The rehearsals are fun and being in a group teaches great teambuilding skills. After five weeks of practice, a public performance is held on Tuesday, July 16 at 6:30 PM. Participants receive a themed T-shirt.

Jumpstart to Kindergarten polishes Readiness Skills kids need to start school this fall. The hour-long class is scheduled Tuesday mornings from 10 -11 AM beginning June 11. It is taught by the library’s Youth Services Coordinator, Nancy Wallace, who is also a former kindergarten teacher.
Aliens, Underwear, & UFOs meet Wednesday mornings starting June 12. Kids having finished kindergarten and 1st grade meet from 10 -10:45 AM. 2nd and 3rd graders meet from 11 – 11:45 AM. Each session includes fun crafts, STEM activities, and books!!
