Residents living in the Franklin and Marion Townships will be able to drop off their household hazardous and electronic waste “the right way” on Saturday, April 6 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Those who wish to participate can drop their items off at the Franklin Township Municipal Building. Registration is required for this event, so visit the ECSR website or call 866-815-0016. 50 registrants are required for the event to take place.
Items to bring are household chemicals including paint, paint thinner, cleaning products, pesticides, car & household batteries, light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, pool chemicals, oil, anti-freeze, flammables, etc. You can also bring electronic waste including TVs, computers, towers, monitors, printers, cell phones, AC units, dehumidifiers, mini fridges, video game consoles, radios, and anything else that has a screen, cords, or a circuit board.
However, items like explosives, ammunition, radioactive materials, large appliances, pharmaceuticals, syringes, medical waste, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, elemental mercury/mercury-containing devices, compressed gas, and tires will not be accepted.
If participating, you will be charged at the following rate:
$0.60/lb. CRT, Projection TVs, and Monitors
$0.40/lb. All other electronics
$0.65/lb. Freon devices (AC Units)
$1.25/lb. Paint
$2.00/lb. All other Household Hazardous Waste $1.50/lb. Universal Waste (i.e. Bulbs & Batteries)
$8/ea. Propane.
