Mrs. Mary Ann Thomas, 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 21st. The daughter of the late Thomas and Mildred Warsing, Mary Ann was born on July 22, 1931, in the town of Alicia in Green County, Pennsylvania. She was a 1948 graduate of Slippery Rock Township High School in Princeton, PA. Mary Ann was Protestant by faith and was united in marriage to Ronald H. Thomas on June 17, 1969.
As a young woman, Mary Ann worked for a number of years for Dustproof and also at the G.C. Murphey Company as a window dresser and sign maker. Over the years, Mary Ann enjoyed playing in the Early Birds and church bowling leagues at Park Lanes in Ellwood City. Mary Ann’s love of performing began when she participated in her high school plays. This love continued through the years as she was known for her Minnie Pearl comedy routine at local banquets and other social functions. Mary Ann loved to cook, bake, and entertain family during the holiday seasons. She loved her family dearly, and they brought her great joy. She was a passionate seamstress who loved to design costumes for family and friends and created beautiful quilts with love for each of her family members.
Beautiful memories of Mary Ann’s life will be forever cherished by her family: husband Ronald H. Thomas; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly (Hall) and William Hoy of Cochranton, PA; son, and
daughter-in-law R.J. and Erin (Patterson) Thomas of Ellwood City, PA; sister Judy (Ronald) White of Naples, FL, and three brothers in New Castle, PA, Jack Warsing, Donald (Joan) Warsing, and James (Barbara) Warsing.
Mary Ann is also survived by two grandchildren Jennifer (Lodovico) Cody (Shannon) and Shawn (Christine) Lodovico and seven great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Thomas, and Genevieve Cody, Kathryn Huss, and Joseph, Louis, and Vincent Lodovico, and many nieces and nephews. In addition, she was lucky enough to enjoy the decades-long friendship of Dolly Boots and Sandee Houk. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her son, Keith Hall on March 22, 2011, and her parents.
Mary Ann’s family would like to share a special thank you to Karen Ruff, a nurse at Northview Estates in Ellwood City, for her kind love and care while Mary Ann was a resident. Visiting hours will take place on Thursday, February 28th from 1-3 PM at The Samuel Teolis Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services in Ellwood City and the funeral service will immediately follow with Rev. Charlene Kennedy officiating. Donations may be made in Mary Ann’s name to the Holy Redeemer Social Services Food Pantry in Ellwood City. Mary Ann will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
