Two Schools, One City, One Fundraising Cause

In light of our community’s tragic loss, the two rival schools have decided to come together and show support for the grieving family and friends of the late Kaitlyn “Kait” Francis.

Showing their support, four students have stepped up and took on the task of making t-shirts to sell to students in a fundraising effort for the Francis family. The two from Ellwood City that started it all are Ariana Garroway and Sydni Haswell. The idea became so well liked that two students from Riverside, Maggie Harden and Tanner Leavens, decided to also Tweet out Riversides support.

Despite the long history of Riv-Ell, the schools know when to put their differences aside and come together show strength in unity.

The shirts are being sold at a cost of $15, and all the money made through these shirts will be going back to the Francis family. There will also be donations collected at the boys basketball rivalry game on Friday, February 8.  Ellwood City plays host to Riverside with varsity action scheduled for 7:30pm.

It is asked that if you purchase a shirt, to wear it to the game. If you cannot get a shirt, please wear yellow.

Orders are due by Friday, February 1 at Noon. If you attend Riverside, please get in contact with Maggie Hardin at the number 724-421-3701. If you are a student at Ellwood City, call or text Sydni Haswell at 724-730-4448.

Riverside students can get their money to Hardin in room 12 during homeroom or first period. Haswell will be at Riverside by 12:00 to collect the money.

The shirts are being sourced and printed locally through Venezie Sporting Goods & Apparel.
