Steve Antuono scored a game-high 21 points to lead Ellwood City to a 51-45 victory over Mohawk Area on Saturday.
The Wolverines (4-6 overall) ran away with an early lead after a 15-point second quarter, running up the lead to 27-18 by halftime.
Antuono collected three 3-pointers on his way to high game-high point total (6-15 overall, 3-6 3-pointers). He also shot well from the line, making 86% (6-for-7) of free throws attempted.
Senior Rick Pitrelli had another strong, all around game, finishing with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for Ellwood City (4-for-10 shooting). Also helping the effort for Ellwood City were Milo Sesti (6 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal), Nathan Coonfare (4 points, 2 rebounds, 1 block), Alexander Roth (4 points, 4 rebounds, 1 steal), Rocco Sesti (3 points, 1 rebound, 2 blocks), and Ryan Gibbons (2 points, 2 rebounds).
The Wolverines finished the game with 30 rebounds (6 offensive / 24 defensive), five blocks and eight steals.
Ellwood City next travels to section-leading Lincoln Park (8-1 overall) on Tuesday for a 7:30pm game.
