Ellwood City Council held their regular monthly agenda meeting on November 13. All council members were present at the meeting except Mayor, Anthony J. Court due to a prior engagement.
The agenda meeting was brief and allowed for attendees to get a rundown on what will be voted on in next weeks council meeting. A significant personnel change will take place when the borough votes on Monday to hire a new borough manager. There were 14 applicants for the position and one needs to be chosen before Joseph Cioffi ends his temporary term as borough manager in January.
Below are the scheduled topics of discussion and voting for Ellwood City’s Council meeting on Monday, November 19:
FINANCE:
-Adopt tentative 2019 budget & place on display.
-Advertise Tax Rate Ordinance- 8.75 million.
HEALTH/PUBLIC SAFETY:
-Adopt Ordinance- Handicap parking on Park Avenue (north) between Cherry Way and Fourth Street.
-Resolution – free holiday parking November 23 – December 31.
PUBLIC WORKS/ UTILITIES:
-Resolution- PMEA bylaw amendments, strategic plan & dues structure.
PARKS/RECREATION:
-EC Chamber- use community plaza November 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
-Policy- (written) charging for events/ shelter usage, etc.
ADMINISTRATION/ PERSONNEL:
-Adopt Ordinance- police pension plan (definition of “normal retirement age” & DROP).
-Employment- Borough Manager (there are 14 applicants for the position and one needs to be chosen before Joseph Cioffi ends his temporary term as borough manager in January).
-Employment- hire one part-time patrolman.
-Advertise – vacancies on Boards/ Commissions.
-Advertise Ordinance – Code Book Updates
-Police Pension Plan- COLAs for police retirees for January 1, 2019 (Betz, Damon, Hardie and Lubich).
-Firefighter Workers Compensation Insurance- SWIF $22,949; paid from general fund.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
-The remaining Yard Waste pickups (after this week) are the week of: November 25 and December 9.
