Charles Carl Meeker Sr., 68, of Chewton passed away Thursday, November 1, 2018 at UPMC – Jameson Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born November 21, 1949 in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Calvin and Elenor (Neal) Meeker. He was married to Lori Tillia Meeker for 24 years. She survives.
Carl served with the 6th Battalion, 84th Artillery in the Army in Vietnam. He also served with the Philadelphia Army Reserves. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chewton. Carl enjoyed historical medieval reenacting and riding his motorcycle.
In addition to his wife, Lori, survivors include a daughter, Elenor Meeker of Butler; son, Charles Carl Meeker II of Chewton and his mother in law, Phyllis Tillia of Chewton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Calvin G. Meeker, and his father in law, Ken Tillia.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday November 4 from 2-6 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, Wampum Funeral Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Chewton on Monday at 11 am with Rev. Erik Board and Rev. Mike Wimer officiating. Interment will follow in Clinton Cemetery. Full military rites will be offered by the Veterans Honor Guard.

I was shocked to hear of Carl’s passing. He had times when he was doing great and we really felt he would beat the cancer. He was courageous in his fight.
