H. Gregory Strickland, Jr., 73 , of Beaver Falls, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, October 24 2018 at his home.
He was born in Washington D.C. on November 3, 1944, to the late Harold G. Strickland Sr., and the late Josephine Shaw Strickland Freed.
He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps in the 1960’s.
He was a police officer for the City of Erie Police Dept. He spent 36 years on the force, beginning as a patrolman, and retiring as Deputy Chief. He served in many positions, including K-9 Officer, Detective, Chief Inspector, and Chief of Internal Affairs.
He was a member of the Northwest PA Police Chiefs, and F.O.P.
Greg enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating on the lake. He loved dogs, and telling a good joke. He especially loved spending time with his family.
Greg is survived by his wife, Paula Fesler Strickland, and four children: Julie (and Ross) Swiderski of Pittsburgh; Shawn (and Rebecca) Strickland of Erie; Brian (and Mandi Carlisi) of Pittsburgh; Gregory M. (and fiancé Amy Schleicher) of Erie.
He is also survived by stepchildren: Wendy Davis of Big Beaver; Scott Davis of West Reading PA; Kathy Davis of West Jefferson OH; and Kelly Davis of Ashville OH.
Greg had 9 grandchildren, and 3 step-grandchildren.
His Aunt Mabel, with whom he spent much of his childhood, preceded him in death.
Greg also leaves his rescue dog Charlie.
He is the last of his family.
Friends will be received from 1: 00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Friday, October 26 2018 in the TURNER FUNERAL HOME, 500 Sixth Street, Ellwood City.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, Oct. 26 at TURNERS.
Full military rites will be observed by the Veterans Honor Guard.
