Riverside Boys & Girls Varsity Soccer Teams Onto Playoffs

Riverside Panthers boys and girls soccer teams have both advanced to the WPIAL Playoffs that begin this weekend.

The Riverside girls team are first to play on Saturday, October 20th in an opening round contest against defending WPIAL Champion Greensburg Central Catholic.  The game will take place at 1:00pm at Hampton School District.  The winner will advance to a second round match-up versus the OLSH/Beth Center winner.

Greensburg Central Catholic defeated Shady Side Academy 1-0 in the Class-A girls soccer championship last November.

For the boys soccer squad, their opening round match will be Monday, October 22nd against Carlynton.  The game will take place at 6:00pm at Blackhawk School District. The winner will advance to a second round match-up versus the Avonworth/Mohawk winner.

Riverside, consider by some a dark horse this year, is looking to make a deeper run after being bounced in the second round of last year’s Class-AA soccer playoffs by eventual WPIAL runner-up Quaker Valley.

1A Playoffs

1A is up for grabs. SL with easiest path to semifinals, and Springdale has the toughest. Sdale vs Sewickley would be a great qrts match.

The boys team finished with a 10-2-1 record and the girls completed their season with a 6-5-3 record.

Tickets will be sold at the gate only. They’ll be priced as $7 for adults and $5 for students.
