Virginia M. McGinnis, 93

Virginia M. McGinnis, 93, of Wampum passed away Friday, October 12, 2018 at UPMC Passavant Hospital.

Born February 9, 1925 in the Troy Hill area of Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Loretta Sheetz Gmuer. She was married to John F. McGinnis Jr. who passed away September 25, 1986.

Virginia was a member of St. Catherine’s of Sienna in Beechview. She enjoyed knitting and reading. Virginia cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Fran (Jim) Monz of Cranberry Twp., Cindy (Mike) Pope of Wampum; two sons, Eddie (Sandy) McGinnis of Cranberry, Dave McGinnis of Moon Twp.; daughter in law, Jill McGinnis of Shaler; two sisters, Sister Corinne Gmuer of SSND, Sister Mary Agnes Gmuer of OSB; brother, Matthew (Barb) Gmuer; 10 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by a son, John McGinnis III in 2014.

 

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, October 17 from 4-8 pm at the Glenn Kildoo Funeral Home in Cranberry Twp. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday at 10:30 am at the Benedictine Sisters of Pittsburgh located at 3526 Bakerstown Rd. Gibsonia. Father LeRoy DiPietro will officiate the services. Interment will follow in the Northside Catholic Cemetery in Pittsburgh.

 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Marshall Funeral Home, Ellwood City.

 

Memorial Contributions in Virginia’s name may be sent to the Benedictine Sisters of Pittsburgh or the School Sisters of Notre Dame.
