Beneigh Insurance has made its way into downtown Ellwood City this summer, taking over the old Wilson Insurance building, located on Sixth Street, in July.
Andrew Beneigh started Beneigh Insurance back in 2006 with its office in Zelienople, after Beneigh decided to leave his job as a claims adjuster for Erie Insurance and open his own insurance agency. The company continued to see steady growth and found the need to expand, which led to the opening of the second office on Sims Street in Ellwood City in 2013.
“We moved from Sims Street over to Sixth Street because we needed to increase our office size to accommodate our increase in staff,” said Beneigh.
This led to the purchase of the former Wilson Insurance building on July 1st of this year. The old building on Sims Street is now currently for sale as Beneigh settles into their new location.

Beneigh had known the owner of Wilson Insurance, Clyde Wilson, for 5 years due to both of them sharing a position with Erie Insurance. The two would see each other occasionally during meetings and created the work relationship.
“I had known Clyde for several years before the acquisition and always had a great working relationship.”
Wilson Insurance had been in Ellwood City for over 30 years after its opening in 1983. The company continued to serve Ellwood City residences for their insurance needs up until owner Clyde Wilson decided to retire and then sold the building to Beneigh.
The Beneigh Insurance building in Ellwood is currently employing 9 people, including the previous Wilson Insurance staff, and serves people from all over Western Pennsylvania.
Andrew Beneigh plans to keep both the Zelienople and Ellwood City locations open, with no plans of merging the two.
