7th Annual Connoquenessing Clean Up: The Allegheny Aquatic Alliance is organizing the Connoquenessing Creek Clean Up from 8am-5pm! Please help us restore this important waterway back to its beautiful, natural state by removing the physical garbage that consumes it. Register by (724) 371-0416 Or Just show up! Meet at Live Out Baptist Church (1718 PA-588, Fombell PA) at 8am. Lunch, snacks, beverages, work gloves and t-shirt provided. Cleanup needs: volunteers, rope, chains, tarps, pry bars, chainsaws, sledgehammers, metal ladders, washing stations, tin-cutters, hip waders, pressure washers, and brush cutters/weed eaters.
Learn Basic Hand Quilting: The Ellwood City Art Club is hosting a class to learn how to hand quilt at the Ellwood Family Center from 10am-1pm. The cost is $5 and RSVP to 724-758-2211.

GreifShare Seminar: A GriefShare seminar/support group is being hosted and sponsored by Calvin Presbyterian Church. The first session is scheduled for Sunday, September 9 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. in the church parlor. The group will meet each Sunday afternoon for 13 weeks, concluding on December 2 . While participants are encouraged to complete the 13-week program if possible, attendance is not mandatory each week. The program is free and open to anyone in the community (and beyond) because we understand how deeply grief and loss hurts people and families. Chef, Wine & Ale: Enjoy samples of fine wines and delectable foods from a variety of restaurants in the area at Shakespeare’s Restaurant in Ellwood City from 6-9pm. Ellwood City Historical Society Annual Picnic: The Ellwood City Area Historical Society’s Annual Picnic will be held at Ewing Park (Shelter #8) at 6pm. Lunch & Learn: The Lawrence County Regional Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Lunch & Learn in the Lakeview Room in the McKelvey Campus Center at Westminster College from 11:30am to 1pm. Learn about a program called “Leadership Lawrence County.” It is $10 for all members of Lawrence County Chambers (Regional Chamber, Ellwood City Area Chamber, & New Wilmington Chamber) and free for members of LCEDC. Craft Fair: First United Methodist Church in Ellwood City is holding a craft fair from 9am-2pm. There will be vendors, food & prizes. Call Kathleen at 724-939-0200 for more information.
Storytelling Festival: The Ellwood City Storytelling Festival, a free event, will be held on September 15th from 4:00 to 7:30 p.m. in Ewing Park. The festival is a beloved community event that features free activities for children and professional storytellers. Professional storytellers will open your mind to a world of imagination! The event will keep children busy with free balloon art by Haberman Magic; free face painting by Face Painting by Nancy; and free horse-drawn trolley rides. Festival goers will be able to purchase and enjoy delicious foods at Katy’s Homestyle Bakery, Custom Cakes by Jodie, and an ice cream truck.
