Donald M. Spiker, 86

Donald Merle Spiker, 86, of Franklin Twp. passed away Monday, September 3, 2018 at the Ellwood City Medical Center following a brief illness.

Born July 4, 1932 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Harvey and Mary McConnell Spiker. He was married to Mary Hutchison Spiker for 64 years when she passed away January 14, 2018.

Don retired in 1989 from AT&T where he had been a Communications Tech for 20 years. He was a member and former Sunday School teacher at the Free Methodist Church. A Veteran of the Army, Don served from 1953-1955. He enjoyed farming all his life, especially helping his son on his farm.

Survivors include three sons, Donald M. (Mary) Spiker Jr. of Missouri, James H. (Cathy) Spiker of Fombell, Ronald J. (Tara) Spiker of Fombell; two daughters, Diane (Tim) Flick of New Jersey, Debra J. Foreman of New Castle; two sisters, Freda Hudspath of Ellwood City, Genevieve Lydic of Indiana, PA; 18 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters, and his son in law, Gary Foreman.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 6 from 6 to 8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, 200 Fountain Ave. Ellwood City. Friends will also be received on Friday at the Free Methodist Church from 10 until the time of funeral service at 11 am. His pastor, Rev. Ray Start will officiate the service. Full military rites will be offered by the Veterans Honor Guard.
