Lincoln High School Building Updates

Lincoln High School is undergoing some renovations to their science wing and the exterior curtain wall of the building.

The project was to replace a curtain wall along the science wing of the high school. The curtain wall was inefficient as far as heating and cooling since it was single pane windows and aluminum framing.

“The decision to replace the wall occurred this past spring and work began as soon as school let out in May,” Superintendent, Joseph E. Mancini said. “The project got behind this summer with some work that was not anticipated.”

As of today, the contractor has 4 of the 7 rooms completed to the point where classes can be held in them.  The contractors (general, heating, electric, etc…) have shifted times of work now that school has started.

Interior work is starting at 3:30 am until 12:00 noon and heating and cooling contractors are working 3:00 pm -11:00 pm on the interior.  From the time school starts until 12:00 pm, the work is shifted to the exterior and the bridge.

“Once it is completed, the wall will be more efficient and the windows are much more efficient.  Since the wall is the sun facing side, it has taken a beating with heat and cold over the years,” Mancini said. “This outside finish will be much more appealing visually and handle the heating and cooling.”

The bridge between the academic wing and cafeteria and gym is also being renovated to be more efficient and more appealing.  The other classrooms should be available September 4 with finish work continuing through the end of September.
