Vera Jean Wilson, 92, of Ellwood City passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Trinity Oaks, following a brief illness.
Born September 13, 1925 in Ellwood City, PA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph P. and Rhoda Jean McClelland Smith. She was married to Albert G. “Jingles” Wilson for 63 years when he passed on March 13, 2009.
Vera was a member of the Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church, where she was a former Deacon and Elder. She was the eldest member of the Order of Eastern Star. A volunteer driver of Meals on Wheels, Vera enjoyed gardening, was an avid quilter and liked to read. Her family was her most important focus.
Survivors include a daughter, Marta Miles of New Castle; two sons, Al (Kathie) Wilson of Philadelphia, PA, and Michael (Michelle) Wilson of Ellwood City; a brother, Bruce (Judy) Smith of New Castle; 8 grandchildren, Ryan (Jennifer) Miles, Casey (Jessica) Miles, Bert (Erin) Miles, Kaity (Matt) Berlin, Kelley (Jon) Reis, Bryan Wilson, Samantha (Tynan) Hudson, and Elizabeth Wilson; and 9 great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph P. Smith Jr., and a sister Judith Miller.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 31, from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, Ellwood City.
The Eastern Star Service will be held Tuesday at 7:45 pm.
Additional hours will be on Wednesday, August 1, at 10 am until the time of the Funeral Service at the Marshall Funeral Home, at 11 am with Rev. Sean Brubaker officiating.
Interment will follow in Slippery Rock Church Cemetery.
