Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following:
Monday, July 2, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. This program is usually held on Wednesdays, but will meet on Monday mornings instead during the summer months. “Coloring for Adults” is a program designed to help reduce the stresses of everyday life. Everyone is welcome, so call the library at 724-758-6458 for more information.
Tuesday, July 3, at 10:00 a.m. — “Jump Start to Kindergarten,” a program designed for children entering kindergarten in the fall. The program focuses on reviewing – in a fun way – what children need to know to begin school. Registration is required, so call the library for more information.
Tuesday, July 3, at 6:30 p.m. – Evening Book Discussion Group for Adults. The group, which usually meets on Wednesdays, is meeting on Tuesday this month. Members will discuss the book, “Norwegian by Night,” by Derek B. Miller. Call the library for more information.
Tuesday, July 3, at 6:30 p.m. — “Family Laptime,” designed for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. This interactive program, which runs through July 3, features stories, songs, finger plays, games and more. Call the library at for more information.
The library will be closed on Wednesday, July 4, in observance of the Fourth of July holiday. Normal hours will resume on Thursday, July 5.
Thursday, July 5, at 10:00 a.m. — “Puppet Theater Workshop,” designed for students in 4th grade and up. The kids create plays and then meet throughout the summer to rehearse the plays using marionettes and puppets. Then, in late July, those participating present their plays to family, friends and other Summer Reading Program-goers.
Thursday, July 5, at 12:00 Noon – “Hooked on Books,” a book discussion group designed for students in 6th through 8th grades. The group meets once each month year-around for book discussion and pizza. Call the library for more information.
Thursday, July 5, at 6:30 p.m. – “Family Movie Night,” designed for preschoolers and early elementary-aged children. A full-length feature film is shown and refreshments are served. Since this is a family night event, all children must be accompanied by an adult. Call the library for more information.
Saturday, July 7, at 10:00 a.m. – “Silly Science and Lego Day,” featuring fun and silly science experiments, robotics and Lego building. This monthly program is designed for children in kindergarten through 6th grade. No registration is required, so call the library for more information.
Saturday, July 7, at 12:00 Noon – “Twenty-Something Book Discussion Group,” designed for college-aged students and people in their twenties. The group meets monthly year-around for book discussion and pizza. Call the library for more information.
The library is now accepting book donations for the Annual Book Sale which is scheduled for October 1-6. Books of all types in good condition may be dropped off at the library during regular business hours. The library will NOT accept textbooks of any type, no magazines, no Readers’ Digest Condensed Books, no encyclopedias and no VHS tapes. Call the library for more information.
