Ellwood City Native Nominated as Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest

Each year the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Western PA selects 50 people to represent Pittsburgh while raising awareness through fundraising events  for Cystic Fibrosis. Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest is an accomplished group of 25 men and 25 women who show involvement in the community, dedication to charitable causes and success in their careers.

Kelly Coccia Ellwood City native was nominated as one of Pittsburgh’s 50 finest. Coccia is a Lincoln High School and Point Park University graduate. She  is on the alumni board of directors for Point Park, and was previously on the board of Pittsburgh Young Professionals.

“With this distinct honor, I along with 49 others  have committed to raise awareness for Cystic Fibrosis,” Coccia said. “We work together as a class but we also host our events to try to be one of the top fundraisers.  We will all be featured in Whirl magazine and will be honored at a gala in August for these achievements.”

The summer of fundraising will culminate on August 12 from 6-11 p.m. with a gala at the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Downtown. Tickets are $100 ($44 tax-deductible)

Coccia’s goal is to raise $10,000 for the cystic Fibrosis Foundation. People who are nominated for Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest come up with creative ideas and activities to raise money for the foundation. Her past events were a social mixer at the Rivers Club, Paint Night and Wigle Whiskey .

“I have two events coming up and one ongoing. July 18, I’m hosting a happy hour at McFadden’s on Pittsburgh’s North Shore. It will feature live music. $10 donation and I will split the cash tip with the bartender,” Coccia said. “July 25 I’m teaming up with two other Finest and we are hosting a trivia night at Carson City Saloon- Pittsburgh’s South Side, there will be a $20 donation.

Coccia’s ongoing fundraiser is selling raffle tickets for two domestic round or 4 one way trip tickets on South West Airlines and $250 hotel voucher. It is $10 for two chances the winner will be announced on August 1 at 7 p.m.
