Beaver Lawrence Railway Historical Society is holding its semi-annual Train Day Festival at West Pittsburgh Train Station Saturday, May 19, from 10 am to 6 pm. Admission to the event is free and all proceeds from the event fund the train station restoration.
The event will kick off with a touch a truck event, where people of all ages can interact with staff of local companies that have volunteered to have their “trucks at the tracks.” This festival will bring attractions like classic cars, and large vehicles from all industries together in one place. People can enjoy the model railroad and tours of the restores caboose and historic train station.
The fun will start at 10 am with a local bakery serving mouth watering sweet rolls, there will be a local restaurant set up serving hot sandwiches, a southern BBQ master grilling and a Greek and Middle Eastern truck serving though dinner.
There will be emergency vehicles and construction vehicles displayed and people will have the chance to take photos with them. There are two main active train lines that are sure to add excitement to the event as well. There will be food and music, and the event is promoted to be “unlike any other event held in the surrounding areas.”
Rain or shine people can come see the trains, touch a truck or shop some of the many vendors. For the classic car lover the Lawrence County Rapid Tappet Classic Car Club had been invited for the first “rods and rails” car cruise. There will be around 50 local artisans and direct sale consultants for a day of shopping. There will be event t-shirts a silent auction and door prizes available.
