Edwin W. “Bud” Hardy, 89, of New Beaver Boro passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the Haven Nursing Home following a short illness.
Born October 13, 1928 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Claude Wheeler and Hazel Elizabeth McKim Hardy. He was married to Ruth Mae Reed Hardy for 63 years as they were married May 15, 1954. She survives.
Bud graduated from Lincoln High School and served in the Army during the Korean War. In July of 1962, Bud founded Hardy Trucking in New Beaver Boro. He and his family have operated the company for 55 years and he currently served as President. Bud enjoyed cutting grass and maintaining his properties. He also enjoyed woodworking and Lionel trains. His most cherished time was spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, Ruth, survivors include two daughters, Barbara A. (Rick) Majors, Linda S. (Bryan) Lutz; two sons, David W. Hardy, Kenneth R. (Robin) Hardy, all of New Beaver Boro; his twin sister, Frances Davis of Nashville, Tennessee; nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Porada.
Family and friends will be received on Friday May 4 from 5-7 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home, Wampum. Military rites will be offered by the Veterans Honor Guard following the visitation. A memorial service will be held at the Clinton United Methodist Church on Sunday, May 6 at 3 pm with Rev. George A. Nagel officiating. Interment will take place in Clinton Cemetery.
