Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following:
Wednesday, May 2, at 10:00 a.m. — “Coloring for Adults,” a weekly program that is free and open to the public. “Coloring for Adults” is a program designed to help reduce the stresses of everyday life. Everyone is welcome, so call the library at 724-758-6458 for more information.
Wednesday, May 2, at 1:00 p.m. — “Building Buddies,” a new program of fun and learning for toddlers and preschoolers. This interactive program allows kids to explore building and socialization skills. No registration is required, so call the library for more information.
Wednesday, May 2, at 3:00 p.m. – Creative Writing Workshop for students in 7th grade and up. The group meets twice each month to share their work and discuss writing tips and techniques. Call the library for more information.
Wednesday, May 2, at 6:30 p.m. – Evening Book Discussion Group for Adults. The group will discuss the book, “My Name is Lucy Barton,” by Elizabeth Strout. New members are welcome, so call the library for more information.
Thursday, May 3, at 3:00 p.m. – “Hooked on Books,” a book discussion group for students in 6th through 8th grades. The group meets monthly for book discussion and pizza. Call the library for more information.
Thursday, May 3, at 4:30 p.m. – The Library Anniversary Committee will meet to discuss upcoming events and fundraisers. New members are welcome, so call the library for more information.
Thursday, May 3, at 6:00 p.m. — Adult Knitting Group whose members meet weekly to work on individual projects. New members are welcome, so call the library for more information.
Saturday, May 5, at 10:00 a.m. – “Silly Science and Lego Day,” a program designed for students in kindergarten through 6th grade. Featured are science experiments, conducted in a fun way, robotics and Lego building. No registration is required, so call the library for more information.
Saturday, May 5, at 12:00 Noon – “Twenty-Something Book Discussion Group,” designed for college-aged students and people in their twenties. The group meets once each month for book discussion and pizza. Call the library for more information.
Saturday, May 5, at 1:30 p.m. – Dave Seaburn, author of his latest book, “Parrot Talk,” will be on hand for a book signing and question-and-answer session. Seaburn is also the author of “Charlie No Face.” Call the library for more information.
The library is hosting a “teacup floral arrangement demonstration” at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16. Patti Kuhn, owner of Posie’s by Patti, will conduct the demonstration. Tickets for this library fundraiser are $25 and include a teacup for the arrangement, fresh flowers as well as various refreshments. Call the library for more information.
This month’s “Movie Night for Adults” will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23. The evening will feature a new-to-DVD film and refreshments. Call the library for more information or to discover the title of the film to be shown.
The library is now accepting book donations for the Annual Book Sale which is scheduled for October 1-6. Books of all types in good condition may be dropped off at the library during regular business hours. The library will NOT accept textbooks of any type, no magazines, no Readers’ Digest Condensed Books, no encyclopedias and no VHS tapes. Call the library for more information.
