EC Junior High Softball Team Runs Record to 4-0 Ambridge

Another day, another mercy rule shortened victory for the Lady Wolverines. This time, Ambridge was the victim of a 13-1 five inning win at Stiefel Park.

The offense was potent once again as eight different players pounded out 10 hits on the day. Kali Barnett and Maddie Hicks led the way with two singles apiece. Katelyn Wehman and Aliya Garroway each added doubles with Wehman’s shot one bouncing the fence in left field to plate 3 runners. Kyla Servick, Grace Balin, Trinity Arlet, and Kaylani Leos all added singles. Mollie Street, Angie Nardone, and Paige Wearing all scored while Jenna Vetica rounded out the production with an rbi.

Angie Nardone ran her record in the circle to 4-0 as she gave up just 1 hit in 2 innings of work. She struck out 4 and walked just one. Aliya Garroway pitched the last 3 innings and fanned 8 with 1 walk. She gave up 1 run on 2 hits.

The defense was flawless as they did not commit an error. Shortstop Street made a nice catch on a popup behind the pitcher and second baseman Hicks made a solid play on a ground ball to end the fourth inning. Right fielder Jenna Vetica made the defensive play of the game with a diving grab on a sinking line drive to end the third inning. She saved two runs as the runners on second and third were moving on contact.

The young ladies will look to make it 5 straight as they entertain Central Valley on Thursday evening at Stiefel Park. First pitch is set for 6pm.
