Riverside senior Dean Kralic tied a WPIAL record Thursday at the Class 2A Swimming Championships at the University of Pittsburgh. In doing so, Kralic took first place in the 100-yard butterfly in Class-AA.
Kralic won the event with a time of 50.29 seconds and joined several Riverside teammates who placed and advanced to PIAA Championships. Panthers Josiah Shaffer, Dylan Griffith and Donnie Paracca each placed second in the 200 medley relay.
Riverside finished the first day tied for sixth in the team standings.
The top four finishers in each event advance to the PIAA championships.
The championships conclude Friday at Trees Pool.
