In early twentieth century Russia, Tevye – a Jewish milkman, his wife, their five daughters and neighbors endure through life, holding to their traditions and faith, in a village where life is as precarious as a fiddler on the roof.
The musical opens as the family prepares for Sabbath dinner. Yente, the town matchmaker arrives to discuss a possible match for Tevye and Golde’s eldest daughter. As a poor man, Tevya hopes for good matches for his daughters.
Tevye rejoices and struggles over the next several weeks as his three oldest daughters find love – some without his blessing – and changes come to the village, their lives, and their traditions.
Audiences will delight in the many familiar songs in Fiddler on the Roof – “Tradition”, “Matchmaker”, “If I Were a Rich Man”, “L’Chaim (To Life)”, “Do You Love Me”, “Anatevka”, and “Sunrise, Sunset”.
