Robert J. Rossi, 91, of Glen Ave, Ellwood City died Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the John Knox Village in Pompano Beach, Florida. Bob was a man who will always be remembered for all that he created and for all the lives he touched.
He was born September 1, 1926, the son of the late Patsy and Perina Martucci Rossi. He grew up in Ellwood City and graduated from Lincoln High School. Bob served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and attained the rank of Machinist Mate 1st Class.
Bob was founder and co-owner of Ro-Med Construction Co., West Penn Asphalt, and Mahoning Sand and Gravel. He later established Rossi Construction Co. and Rossi Manufacturing. He attended Calvin Presbyterian Church. Bob was a gifted carpenter and an active participant with the annual Carpenter Project since its onset. He built a replica of the Harmony Short Line Streetcar for Ellwood City’s Centennial Celebration. Bob and his wife, Alice enjoyed wintering in South Florida for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Alice Gaul Rossi, their two children,Barbara Rossi of New York City and Robert A. Rossi and his wife Amy of Apex, North Carolina; and a sister, Norma Zingaro of Ellwood City.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Pat Rossi and a sister, Mary Ann Agostonelli.
Friends may call at the Marshall Funeral Home, Ellwood City on Sunday, Feb 4 from 2-6 pm. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 11 am with his pastor, Rev. Sean Brubaker officiating. Military rites will be offered by the Veterans Honor Guard. Entombment will follow in the Slippery Rock Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvin Presbyterian Church, 615 Crescent Ave. Ellwood City, PA 16117.
