John A.”Jack” Ippolito, 69, of New Castle, formerly of Wampum, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at UPMC – Jameson Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Born December 16, 1948 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Raymond J. Ippolito and Mary Jane Sbarro Ippolito of New Castle.
Jack graduated from Lincoln High School in 1967. Following graduation, he served in the Army during the Vietnam War. Jack retired in 2011 as the Maintenance Supervisor at Medusa Cement/Cemex. He then worked for OSA Global Security where he served as the Captain at Mohawk High School An outdoorsman, Jack enjoyed hunting, camping, and boating. An expert with the bow and arrow, Jack won the PA State Archery Championship in the 1970’s. He enjoyed spending time at Conneaut Lake where he was known as “Captain Jack”. His most cherished time was spent with family.
In addition to his mother, Mary Jane, survivors include a son, Anthony R. (Crissy) Ippolito of New Castle; his fiancé, Betty Wright with whom he resided; two sisters, Beverly Capezio of New Castle, Cynthia (Jim) Thomas of Boardman, Ohio; brother, Raymond J.”Bucky” (Toni) Ippolito of New Castle; four grandchildren, Kylee, Madison, Jennah, and Avery; and his faithful companion, Snicky.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday January 19 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Marshall Funeral Home 341 Main Street Wampum. A Funeral Liturgy will take place on Saturday at St. James the Apostle Church in New Bedford at 11:00 am with Deacon John Carran officiating. Military rites will be offered by the Veterans Honor Guard. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in New Castle
